A more perfumed and fragrant style of McLaren Vale Shiraz with lifted blue and black fruits to the fore. Perfect McLaren Vale Shiraz colour with deep purple hues and fine long, graphite-like tannins. The oak regime is all French, with 30% being new, which adds length and compliments the wines natural freshness and fruit sweetness. A medium to full-bodied wine with layers of flavour and great length.

Winemaker Comments
Our second release of Clarendon Vineyard Shiraz from this acclaimed dry grown vineyard in the Clarendon sub-region in McLaren Vale. First planted in 1971, the vineyard is situated on the rolling hills of Clarendon, on the northern edge of McLaren Vale in South Australia. An outstanding season in McLaren Vale with a return to average yields following a number of drought seasons. Average rainfall throughout the growing season with an ideal ripening period resulted in near perfect Shiraz at harvest. Wonderful ripe fruit characters balanced by fine, long tannins.

Pairs well with red meat dishes.
Production
Hand harvested, destemmed and chilled to tanker in McLaren Vale. Fermented in a single open fermenter in the Hunter. Gentle cap management to ensure soft tannins, the wine is matured in 100% French oak puncheons for 16 months.
Drink
Drinking well now but will reward with medium to long term cellaring.
